Sulgrave Manor:

Built by the ancestors of George Washington and saved from ruin by donors from both the UK and USA, Sulgrave Manor is the original home of the Special Relationship. Some of the most influential people on both sides of the Atlantic funded the restoration of Sulgrave Manor, the home of George Washington’s English ancestors, as part of the centenary commemorations for the Treaty of Ghent which established peace between Britain and the United States of America after the War of 1812. Discover the story of America’s first President here at Sulgrave!

Yew hedges divide the garden into rooms, each one with its own atmosphere. Topiary peacocks welcome visitors at the front door and densely planted borders ensure botanical interest from spring through to autumn. The Tudor Villagers Garden boasts historic vegetables and herbs, whilst mature trees provide shaded seating and stunning autumn colour. Heritage fruit trees grow in the orchard and there’s a designated Silent Space should you wish to simply sit back and enjoy views of the surrounding rolling countryside.

Pot en Ciel:

Pot en Ciel is a studio where adults and children create unique pieces of painted ceramic. The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive, and suitable for all ages. A variety of blank ceramic pieces are available to choose from, such as mugs and coasters, plates and teapots, to trinket boxes and even seasonal objects. The price is inclusive of your chosen piece, paint and equipment, studio costs and glazing/firing, so there’s no hidden fees.

Adults can enjoy child-free evening sessions, with or without expert guidance, and a glass of fizz! A wide range of painting materials such as stencils, fine-nozzled bottle paints and different paintbrushes are used, so you can create your desired piece whether you’ve never picked up any ceramic, or if you’ve done it 100 times! The on-site café serves hot drinks to your table, so you can enjoy a hot chocolate, coffee or tea whilst you paint.
