Discover Northamptonshire at the 2025 British MotoGP
This weekend, we attended the 2025 British MotoGP at Silverstone – and what a spectacular event it was! The atmosphere was electric, the racing world-class and the venue buzzing with fans from across the globe. Silverstone, a cornerstone of British motorsport, once again proved why it holds a legendary place in the hearts of enthusiasts.
The action on track did not disappoint. Fabio Quartararo started strong with a record-breaking lap in qualifying, but Sunday’s main race was a rollercoaster of drama and excitement. Marco Bezzecchi took a hard-fought victory after Quartararo was forced to retire due to mechanical issues, with Johann Zarco and Marc Márquez joining him on the podium. It was a masterclass in racing and a joy to witness firsthand.
Away from the track, Silverstone excelled in ensuring the event was accessible and enjoyable for all visitors. Purpose-built wheelchair-accessible viewing platforms, dedicated accessible parking and trained staff made a real difference. We were especially impressed by the “Low Revs” sessions at the Silverstone Museum – a fantastic initiative providing a sensory-friendly environment for neurodiverse guests and their families.
The food and drink offering was diverse and delicious, with stalls serving everything from artisan burgers and loaded fries to fresh wraps and sweet treats. While there were some queues during peak times, the variety more than made up for it. For those who prefer to bring their own, Silverstone’s policy of allowing food and non-alcoholic drinks on-site was a great bonus, especially for families.
A major highlight of the weekend was the Silverstone Museum, which was included with all MotoGP tickets. The museum offers a captivating journey through motorsport history, packed with interactive exhibits, classic cars and immersive displays. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the sport, it’s an experience not to be missed – and a brilliant way to round out a race day.
