To mark the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of Northampton, visit 78 Derngate and witness their exhibition “Aftermath: Regeneration through Architecture”, focusing on architectural changes following the Great Fire.
This compact exhibition draws parallels between the Great Fire of Northampton in 1675 and the town’s subsequent complete transformation, connecting it to the recent revitalisation of the outdoor space at number 80 in 2023. Alongside the pictorial story of the regeneration work that went on here are featured works by others which include a vibrant collaborative artwork by learners from Workbridge Vocational College showing a phoenix emerging from flames, alongside Mick Henson’s striking garden sculpture crafted from repurposed fire hydrants, which stands prominently amid a display of fiery-hued blooms.
