The day will begin with a 1 hour introductory talk to metalworking in the Bronze Age, covering materials, UK artefacts and manufacturing techniques. Participants will be taken through the process of sand-mold making before choosing an axe or dagger to make their mold with. Each participant will have the chance to cast liquid bronze into their mold. There will be time to clean, polish and decorate the templates in the afternoon.
You will be providing with a new dust mask for the duration of this workshop as working with jet and jet-like materials can produce a lot of dust, and gloves to protect your hands while working with sharp flint.
