Over sixty years ago there were more than seventy railway stations serving their communities in Northamptonshire, and thirteen in East Northants. Today, the county has six whilst there are none locally. This illustrated talk looks at each of the thirteen local stations and remaining infrastructure.
The speaker
Eric Franklin – I was born and raised in North Surrey well over seventy years ago. We moved to Northamptonshire in 1973 and Thrapston in 1982. Over the last thirty-five years I have developed an interest and much expertise in the local history of Thrapston and environs. I have written two books about the towns’ men who became casualties during the Great War and local news stories covering the years 1914 to 1921 whilst also editing and contributing to the towns’ local history magazine. I also write a monthly item of local interest in the monthly Thrapston Life magazine delivered to the town, Islip and Denford.
