DESCRIPTION:Come along to Stitching Kitchen and have fun with fabric and thread while learning the basics of sewing. Whether you're a complete beginner or refreshing your skills\, our introductory sewing workshop is designed to build confidence and creativity. Over 10 hours (5 sessions)\, you'll gain hands-on experience with a sewing machine\, create stunning projects to brighten up your home\, and leave with the building block skills you need for all beginner and improver sewing projects. \nWhat you will learn/achieve \nSewing machine setup: threading\, tension and troubleshooting\nEssential techniques like seams\, zips\, buttonholes\, lining and more\nSkills to start dressmaking\, quilting\, or crafting your next project\nProjects you'll complete: bunting\, zip pouch and envelope cushion cover\nWhat's included \nTuition: full instruction and support in a small class (maximum of 6).\nUse of our Pfaff and Janome machines in Stitching Kitchen's fully equipped studio. \nAll patterns and instructions are provided via email after each class to practice at home. \nTea and cake. \nAbout your tutor \nLyn is one of our tutors. She has been sewing since the age of 10\, taught by her mum and grandmothers who worked in the sewing industry. She loves sewing\, predominantly garments for herself to add to her brightly coloured wardrobe! She ran an image training company for 11 years\, so she knows a thing or two about what suits your body shape\, colouring and style preferences. \nAs you book your ticket it will ask if you want to buy the kit which includes all the materials you will need to make the projects on the course.  \nThis is a 5 week course starting Thu\, Sep 03\, 2026 which runs from 7pm to 9pm

Northants & Rutland Open Studios is more than an art festival – it is an opportunity to explore hidden studios\, beautiful villages\, bustling towns\, country gardens\, galleries\, and creative spaces\, while meeting the artists who make our region such a vibrant place to visit. \nFrom painting\, ceramics\, and sculpture to textiles\, printmaking\, jewellery\, photography\, and glass\, every venue offers something different. Some artists will be opening their working studios\, others will be exhibiting together in shared spaces and galleries\, creating exciting opportunities to experience a wide variety of work in one visit. \nStart your journey at our free Central Exhibition at Lamport Hall\, running from 5th September – 3rd October\, Wednesday to Sunday\, 10am-4pm. Bringing together work from artists across both counties\, it is the perfect place to discover new artists\, plan your route\, and be inspired to explore further afield.
