SUMMARY:Northampton Film Festival - documentary 'The Corinthians' - experience the incredible true story of the original rebel girls of football
DESCRIPTION:Nominated for Best Documentary at this year’s Northampton Film Festival\, this is the incredible real-life story of the original rebel girls of football – The Corinthians Ladies FC from Manchester – who defied The FA’s 50-year ban on women playing to become global champions. We’ll be joined by Director Helen Tither for a Q&A after the film plus a drinks reception in association with West Northamptonshire Council and Northamptonshire Sport in the Royal & Derngate foyer afterwards. \nTold exclusively by 10 surviving players\, this is the first feature-length documentary to reveal the incredible tale of how a gang of working-class girls from Manchester took on the all-male establishment and won. At a time when women were banned from playing on any official football pitches in England\, the Corinthians found fame in top stadiums around the world. Beating Germany to a European Cup in 1957\, and winning an unofficial World Cup in 1960\, they were one of the most successful women’s teams the UK ever had. Yet\, for decades\, their world-beating triumphs were forgotten. Now\, The Corinthians: We Were The Champions reveals the full\, raucous\, rebellious story\, from the women who were there. \nWatch the trailer and book here https://northamptonfilmfestival.eventive.org/schedule/documentary-the-corinthians-we-were-the-champions-pg-director-q-a-69624ccefac8dee25e1abf1e \nTickets are £7.50 plus booking fee which includes the reception afterwards. There’s a 10% discount for jobseekers/students and free carers tickets.

SUMMARY:Whistledown Has Spoken
DESCRIPTION:Think scandal is all fantasy? Think again! \nAt Delapré Abbey\, the drama of Georgian high society wasn’t scripted—it was lived. Behind the elegant façades and glittering soirées lay a world of ambition\, romance\, and intrigue that shocked polite society. \nFollow the true story of Harriet Bouverie\, a woman whose beauty and wit placed her at the heart of the Ton—and whose scandalous love affair with Lord Robert Spencer made headlines long before Whistledown. SUMMARY:Top Gs Like Me
DESCRIPTION:A new comedy\, set in Northampton\, about growing up online. \nAidan’s lost. His best mate’s starting uni\, his mum can’t get out of bed\, and his new side hustle has questionable legality. Meanwhile\, he’s stacking shelves at the supermarket wondering if this is all he’s cut out for. He’s got hobbies – hanging out at the skate park and doom scrolling his days away. \nAs he’s lapping up the algorithm ‘Hugo Bang’ appears with the promise to help Aidan become the alpha he was born to be. \nWill Hugo Bang help Aidan get his life back on track\, or will he lead Aidan to a darker\, more dangerous place? \nDirected by Jesse Jones\, this brand-new play by local playwright Samson Hawkins (author of Stratford East’s critically acclaimed Village Idiot) crackles with dry humour and a modern-day wit. \nTransforming the Derngate auditorium into a skatepark\, this Made In Northampton production dives headfirst into the influence of online culture\, the pull of toxic masculinity\, and the search for identity in the digital age. \nTop Gs Like Me was developed with the support of the National Theatre’s Generate programme.
