Champing at Aldwincle:

Fancy something a little different? Why not go for a sacred sleepover at Aldwincle?

The historic church is not only the birthplace of poet John Dryden, but also the birthplace of champing, the concept of camping in historic churches, pioneered by the Churches Conservation Trust! First beginning in 2016, it's a unique, one-of-a-kind experience we highly recommend.

Camp beds, chairs, lanterns, candles and oodles of atmosphere are provided - all you need to do is get there and have fun! The church is elegantly unadorned, making its beauty easier to appreciate – look for the carving of the human head, sticking out its tongue.

The Aviator Hotel has a restaurant and bar that serve a range of delicious dishes and drinks.

Guests can enjoy a variety of cuisines, including British and international flavours. Rooms are modern and comfortable, each tastefully decorated with aviation-inspired touches and original 1930s decor.
