Join Hideaway Wood Farm and spend the afternoon learning about alpacas, their fleeces and getting to see live demonstrations of skirting, carding, spinning, felting and more! With an opportunity to get involved, meet the alpacas and purchase raw fleece on the day.

Throughout the day there will be ongoing demonstrations of:

• Skirting – preparing the fleece

• Carding – processing the fibres so that all move in the same direction

• Spinning with a drop spindle – an ancient and simple way of processing fibre into yarn

• Spinning with a wheel – a method of producing higher quantities of yarn from raw fibre

• Needle felting – a sculptural craft using the fibre

• Examples of products made with alpacas fibre

There will be an opportunity to have a go at needle felting, a meet and greet with the alpacas including last year’s babies, an opportunity to view the blankets (main part of the fleece) and seconds available for purchase.
