Northamptonshire Day, celebrating the patron saint of shoemakers, St Crispin, comes to Kettering town centre on Sunday 25 October.

The day will be a celebration of the county’s history, culture and visitor attractions, transforming Kettering into a destination for one of the region's biggest family days out, encouraging residents and visitors alike to explore the best of our county.

This year’s event will coincide with the full reopening of the Alfred East Art Gallery and Kettering Library.

And it will span multiple locations across the town centre - focusing on the Market Place, and extending out to Kettering Leisure Village, and the Lighthouse Theatre, and also Wicksteed Park .

A highlight of the day will be heritage bus services operated by Northampton Transport Heritage, giving families the chance to travel on classic double-decker buses to explore the different activity hubs and discover more of the county's rich transport history.

The event aims to showcase Kettering as a thriving cultural destination, as well as the wider Northamptonshire area.

Visitors can expect:

  • Family activities and children's entertainment throughout the day
  • Heritage exhibitions celebrating local history and community stories
  • Live performances in the heart of Kettering town centre
  • Historic venues opened for exploration and activities
  • Vintage and heritage bus experiences linking key attractions
  • Community groups, arts organisations and sporting partners coming together to celebrate the county
