About Volunteering at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery

Providing a rewarding and enriching experience. A friendly, diverse team made up of people of all ages and backgrounds, with differing skills, knowledge and life experiences. Volunteers undertake a wide variety of roles including tour guiding at Abington Park Museum; researching, caring for and documenting collections, undertaking research for exhibitions and events; helping to document and care for the collections and helping engage visitors in activities such as family workshops.

Northampton Museum and Art Gallery are looking to develop a team of volunteers to help prepare museum objects for a store move. Tasks will include packing and recording of museum objects on a database. They are looking for Collections Packing, Move Documentation, and Move Research.

As part of the Histories of Northamptonshire project Northampton Museum and Art Gallery will be installing Blue Plaques celebrating local people and their contribution to the history and heritage of West Northants. They wish to recruit volunteers to help with research.
