Discover the Story Behind Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa

To celebrate English Tourism Week, member of the Discover Northamptonshire Team, Evie, has been catching up with some of Northamptonshire’s most loved destinations!

In this blog, she’s been speaking with Graeme from Fawsley Hall, and discussing what’s new, what’s coming, and what makes this place so special.

Evie: Graeme, how did Fawsley Hall’s journey as a hotel begin, and what makes it such a unique place to visit?

Graeme: Hand Picked Hotels acquired Fawsley Hall in 2013 and began sympathetically restoring and refurbishing the bedrooms and public areas. We’re based in Fawsley and offer 60 bedrooms, two restaurants — including the Cedar Restaurant, which proudly holds 3 AA Rosettes — and our stunning Great Hall, which is the perfect setting for afternoon tea or pre‑ and post‑dinner drinks.

We also have Knightley Court, our red‑brick building that can host weddings and events for up to 120 guests, complete with its own cinema. The combination of history, luxury and beautiful surroundings makes us truly unique.

Evie: Wow! 3AA Rosettes is quite the achievement! You also recently won Hotel of the Year at the Northamptonshire Tourism Business Awards, too?

Graeme: Yes, our Executive Chef Joe Gould achieved 3 AA Rosettes for our Cedar Restaurant last year. It was an incredible achievement for our food and beverage team and something we’re all very proud of. Winning Hotel of the Year was a very proud moment for the team. They come in every day with a smile, ready to make memories for our guests. It underpins that what we’re doing is working.

Evie: It is indeed! What can visitors look forward to in 2026?

Graeme: We’re currently enhancing our formal gardens and exploring options to further evolve our spa facilities and offering. There’s a lot to be excited about as we continue to elevate the guest experience.

We work with several fantastic partners, each offering something unique — from shooting at Honesberie Estate to visiting two wonderful vineyards here in Northamptonshire. These partnerships give our guests experiences they won’t find anywhere else.

Evie: It's experiences like those that make visits super memorable. Do you find that guests talk about specific aspects the most after their stay?

Graeme: Three things come up time and time again. The friendliness of the team, the dining experience in the Cedar Restaurant, and sitting in our hydro pool - whatever the weather!

Evie: With all of the buzz surrounding the quality of the food at the Cedar Restaurant, I can imagine it's many people's favourite spot. Do you have a favourite spot of your own on the estate?

Graeme: I have a few. Driving into the estate, just 300 yards from our front door, you get this beautiful view of sweeping hills and fields — it looks incredible all year round. Sitting in the Great Hall beneath the “Sub Rosa” bay window is also very special. And if you stand with the spa behind you and look back at the main house, you really get a sense of our footprint and the distinctive architectural styles that make Fawsley so unique.

Evie: The uniqueness of Fawsley is definitely something we're passionate about promoting so thank you for sharing the story with us! What's next for Fawsley Hall, is there anything exciting coming up?

Graeme: Easter, summer and the British Grand Prix — it’s always an exciting time of year for us.
