NORTHAMPTON: Pop-up Poetry Night – Write and Share

Come along for a relaxed evening as part of The Creative Place’s 2026 2 Weeks of Words.
We’ll start with some guided poetry writing, then some gentle vocal warm-ups followed by the chance to share your work in a friendly, supportive open mic setting.
This is for poets, performers, writers and those who are word curious 16yrs+ (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult).
You don’t need to be an active poet but you can be.
You don’t need to have shared work before, but you can have.
You don’t need to have eaten cake before – but if you haven’t, I want to hear more! Maybe you could write a poem about it.
Bring your whole self, an open heart and an open mind to this cosy, intimate venue where we’ll have fun exploring a few exercises with words before sharing with the group. There is no expectation to share if you don’t want to.
£10 ticket price includes any soft or hot drink AND a cake. If you would like a Vegan, Gluten Free or Vegan AND Gluten Free cake, please buy an appropriate ticket below – there will be other choices on the night but gives us an idea of dietary requirements.
The event is hosted by Abbi Jinks, poet and MC living in Northamptonshire.
Abbi has written poetry since her teens, rediscovering it four years ago after spontaneously performing with a live band at a festival. Since then, she’s delivered performances and workshops, helping people find their voices. She believes writing and sharing stories can be deeply healing, with self-expression a powerful tool.
Twice slam winner at Leicester’s ‘Some-Antics’ spoken word night, Abbi loves to get playful and creative with her writing and performance. She also offers creative workshops to community groups, corporates and businesses – great for building connection in teams and also inspiring more creative thinking.
As a founding member of the Association of Business Poets, Abbi works creating ‘live event poetry’, capturing the magic of an event or gathering. She also works with her trusty typewriter to bring small bespoke poems to guests and attendees.
