Whether you're looking for rural relaxation, nostalgic days out or a crafting activity - there's something for everyone to enjoy in Northamptonshire this summer! Here's just a few ideas on how you can explore the county!

Family-Friendly Fun:

 

Morning: Kickstart your day and tire out the little ones with a run around Wicksteed Park - grab a coffee and enjoy exciting rides & their Victorian play park. Don't forget to stroll the park walks and nature trails taking in some lovely fresh air to start the day. A location so good you could spend the entire day here!

 

Lunch:  Find The Hut in Kettering for a tasty range of dining options, from hot and cold drinks, sweet treats, cakes and toasties. Take in the perfectly cosy atmosphere while you enjoy your midday treat. Whilst you're there, why not try out their local coffee from Bella Barista? 

 

Afternoon: Enjoy a performance and soak in the community spirit at The Lighthouse Theatre. From family-friendly fun to tribute acts and touring performances, there’s something for everyone! Recognised as one of Northamptonshire’s top arts venue in the Muddy Stilettos Awards, it's a venue that you shouldn't miss out on.

Rural Relaxation:

 

Morning: Take a morning stroll around the wildlife hotspot of Titchmarsh Nature Reserve. Meander the 72 hectares of beautiful landscape on their trails and circular tracks for peaceful walks and beautiful views of the Northamptonshire countryside – maybe even have a try at bird-spotting while you're there? 

 

Lunch: Have a late breakfast or delicious lunch at Bennetts or try one of their incredible cake choices – you'll be spoilt for choice! A great location for soaking up the sun in their courtyard and midday stop before exploring the town.

 

Afternoon: Wander Thrapston’s beautiful streets and stumble into The Primrose Gallery. Lose yourself in their selection of art, jewellery and pottery. Find a great gift for a loved one or treat yourself instead!

Breakfast, Brushes and a Breeze:

 

Morning:  Breakfast, brunch or a later start with lunch? Start your day with a delicious plate from Jeyes Of Earls Barton. Drool through ...I mean browse through their incredible menu and try their own line of sauces, jams and chutneys with your meal! We recommend their Blueberry Burst Pancakes but there is something for everyone!
 
Afternoon: Pop into Potz Ceramic Studio for a relaxing afternoon of pottery painting. Choose from their never ending choice of pottery from coasters to highland cows, dragons to vases you can have walls of items to decide upon! Remember to book, walk ins are welcome but can't always be accommodated.  
 
Evening: End your day exploring Abington Meadows. This beautiful reserve is home to an amazingly diverse range of wildlife and grazing animals. Please note the meadows are partially a wetland, don't forget to put your wellies in the boot!

Dog Friendly Days:

 

Morning:  Start your day browsing through Bell Plantation with your very welcome pooch and enjoy a delicious breakfast in their onsite cafe. Fill up on their Plantation Breakfast before starting the day and take in some garden inspiration while you're there.
 
Afternoon: Exercise those paws through the beautiful Salcey Forest. With multiple walking routes there's an adventure for every dog, keep it tame with their Elephant Walk (1.2km) or go in at the deep end with the Woodpecker Trail (10km). Please pay attention to the weather, while these walks are beautiful on a sunny day keep in mind the needs and health of your furry friend. 
 
Evening: End your day in Stoke Bruerne, choose between The Boat Inn or The Navigation for a canal side dinner and refreshing drink with your four legged friend before heading back home.
